#1 Carl Sherburne Health Lodge

The Carl Sherburne Health Lodge was built in 1952 replacing the old "Medicine Lodge" which stood a few hundred feet to the northwest. The cost of the building materials was supplied by the Magee Fund - an endowment fund established by Mr. Magee, a Boston theatre owner, to promote better camping in Massashusetts' Boy Scout Camps. The man in whose honor the building is named did much of the construction work himself. Carl Sherburne served on the camp staff for close to 30 years, probably longer than any other individual. In the late 70's the building was converted into a winter cabin that sleeps 18.
