#11 Kawanis Flag Pole

 

 

The Kiwanis flag pole was one of the first gifts to the new camp in 1928 and originally stood at "the point". On this site stood the "Hunting Lodge" purchased with original 50 acres from Dr. Horatio Allen in 1927. The "Lodge" served as a camp office, first-aid room, handicraft lodge, camp store, and staff lounge before it was disassembled in the late 1930's and the material was used to construct other camp buildings. Here each day the Scouts of the camp gathered for retreat ceremonies. In 1977 the flag pole was moved to its present location at the circle. In 1995 the kids play area was put in for Family Camping
